Maintaining Your Computer:
Computer "dragging" a little these days. Remember how it was
when you first bought your computer...no hang ups, just turn it on
and away you go. And now...that get up and go has gone. Maybe we can
help. In this seminar you will learn how to keep your computer
running at peak performance. You will learn the basics rules for
maintaining your computer at peak performance using Windows system
tools Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter. How to get rid of
unnecessary files as well as the importance of a good anti-virus and
spam blocking programs will also be discussed.
Approximately 2½ hours
Internet Basics: This Seminar will
focus on the basics of using MS Internet Explorer browser and the
Google search engine. Presentation will include how to personalize
IE for content and security; basics of searching the web; about
URL's, Home pages and Links; saving to and organizing Favorites.
Included in this years program will be an overview of IE 7.0 and tab
browsing. Approximately 2½ hours
Workshops
Our "Hands-on" workshops are held at various times
during the year.
Fun with Outlook Express: Are your e-mails a little too
vanilla? Would you like to jazz them up a little? Would you like to
show off your creative side to your friends? Would you like
to add a splash of holiday green or a bit of sunshine yellow to your
e-mail messages? Then this hands-on workshop is for you. We will
show you how to use Outlook Express stationery as well as how to
design your own using background colors and images from your
personal photo collection. How about adding banners...scrolling no
less, scrolling backgrounds as well, and big time music. You'll go
on-line and download fancy backgrounds, images and music and create
a personal collection. It's all here, at this workshop!
Holiday and Personalized Stationery:
This workshop includes
working with pre-printed stationery and self designed stationery
(adding page borders, graphic headers, and graphic backgrounds).
Students will learn to use MS Word WordArt to create headings and
format photos; visit the Internet sites to download graphics and
saving them to folders; create Watermarks, picture backgrounds, and
making personalized signature tags for your e-mails. The class
includes a manual and a CD loaded with graphics and other goodies.
Scan 'em, Fix 'em, and Mount 'em: So you have a bunch of photos
from days gone by and they are starting to look “old”. So now you’re
wondering what it takes to get them on your computer, fix 'em up,
and store them with the rest of your family photos. Scan them, yep
just scan them in. Just buy a scanner and scan them in, right. Well
there’s more to it then that. In this workshop you will learn how
to scan photos, fix ‘em up, and then
create great looking album pages to keep them in and stored them on
your computer. You will also learn how to e-mail those finished
photos and album pages to other family members. Students will bring
several photos from home to scan and repair as needed, then
download them onto a CD and take them home ready to store on their
computer.
